Basis of the Analysis

The BOOKCERT analysis is always genre-specific and is based on the complete content of the book. Readers of a thriller expect pace and suspense, so these characteristics carry greater weight in the calculation of the BOOKCERT Score. In a romance novel, emotional intensity and character development take center stage. As a result, these two characteristics have a significantly stronger influence on the score.

Individual chapters, sample chapters, or text excerpts are not evaluated separately and do not serve as the basis for the analysis. Where applicable, the author's afterword or additional explanatory notes are also taken into account if they are relevant to understanding or classifying the work.

This approach ensures that the BOOKCERT analysis reflects the overall reading experience rather than being distorted by particularly strong or weak individual passages.
Difference Between the BOOKCERT Score and the BOOKCERT Reading Experience Profile

The BOOKCERT Score shows how well a book meets the expectations of its genre. It does not measure how "well written" a book is in general. Instead, it evaluates how closely the overall reading experience matches the conventions and expectations of the selected genre. (Also referred to as the Genre Fit Index.)

The BOOKCERT Reading Experience Profile displays seven individual characteristics (such as suspense, atmosphere, pacing, etc.) regardless of how important they are for the genre. A book can achieve a high BOOKCERT Score because it perfectly meets its genre expectations while still showing lower values in some profile categories. Conversely, a book may be exceptionally well written yet follow its genre conventions less consistently. For example, readers would not normally expect a family saga to have a very fast pace. (Also referred to as the Craft Index.)

BOOKCERT Score = How well does the book meet the expectations of its genre?
BOOKCERT Reading Experience Profile = How strongly are the individual characteristics of the reading experience expressed?
Give your readers clear guidance and increase your book's visibility
